Abstract

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a heterogeneous country whereby ethnicity overlaps with religious values. Thus, the scope of this work is based on the study of new religious movements of various religious and cultural backgrounds that exist and function in B&H. Therefore, due to the fact that there are insufficient comprehensive studies on this complex subject, this paper attempts to examine the role religion plays in social and political life in B&H by focusing on the way how it is employed by new religious movements that have been working actively in this field. Hence, this research primarily addressed the questions of formation of new religious movements, their role within society, overall impact on religious market as well as the citizens’ and experts’ perceptions of the same. This paper itself is based on the results of the data collected using both qualitative and quantitative techniques of data collection. The multidimensional nature of this research vis-à-vis its purpose, fostered the use of both qualitative and quantitative techniques of data collection and data analysis.
