Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erkan Karagöz was born in Muğla. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Muğla. After graduating from Gazi University Faculty of Arts Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects and Literatures/ Turcology (June 2005), he achieved a position as a research assistant in the same department (December 2005). He also taught foreign students Turkish language in Gazi TÖMER (Turkish Language Teaching Center), while keeping his position in the department (2008-2010). In Gazi University Social Sciences Institute Department of Contemporary Turkish Dialects/Turcology he got his Master’s degree with his thesis Underwater World in Turkic Epopees (2009), and in the same institute got his Ph.D. degree with the thesis Comparative Motif Study On Tatar-Bashkir Magic Tales: Translation, Motif Determining (According to Motif-Index of Folk Literature) - Motif Index (2016).
