Abstract

Nowadays, driving license has become an integral part of elementary literacy, and often it seems
that we have to forgotten the fact that how driving a car is a complex and dangerous activity, for
individual itself and for its environment. Driving is a complex psychomotor activity, which includes
both a lot of perceptive and cognitive activities, which are rotating very quickly, and result in a
timely reaction. If the person would be able to respond timely to a signal it needs to have at least
average intellectual abilities, and certain personality traits, actually the absence of personality traits
that are considered contraindicated for the driving.
One of the basic personality traits, which is the necessary for drivers to develop, is the ability of
emotional control, as numerous studies have shown that it is one of the traits that usually results
with bringing drivers in an inadequate situation.
In this context, it is essential that psychologists are involved in the prevention of traffic accidents, in
terms of standardization and legalization of assigning medical certificates, following and applying
proper test for a medical certificate, as well as the process of training of drivers and instructors
about the importance of emotional control while driving.
