Abstract

Although this paper aims to be comprehensive in its analysis of the development of capital market, it is worthwhile to point out immediately the boundaries of the work. There is also little discussion about investment privatization funds (IPFs). Upon the completion of the privatization process, IPFs are transformed into investment funds (IFs). In practice, this means that the paper’s primary focus concerns IPFs from the very beginning of the privatization process. The paper is divided into 4 parts. Part 1 presents a brief outline of the achievements in financial sector of B&H of the previous years, part 2 is focus on the a brief description of theoretical background of financial institutions in improving the overall efficiency of the financial sector. Part 3 is the main body of the paper. It examines and analyzes the actual development of IFs  in F B&H and part 4 is the conclusion. We also discuss what has worked and what remains to be done in industry of IFs and examine their futher development. The evidences show that IFs are not comparable to the banking sector as well as they have not been effecting in allocating resource of economy. The paper concludes the majority of IFs have not developed into viable financial intermediaries.
