IUS English Language School (ELS) is the first internationally accredited university English language foundation program in the Balkans — accredited by EAQUALS in 2017 and inspected in 2025.
IUS English Language School was first accredited by EAQUALS in 2017 and re-inspected in 2025 — an eight-year journey of validated language teaching excellence, with the inspectors identifying six points of excellence across our operations.
IUS English Language School (ELS) was accredited by EAQUALS (Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality Language Services) — an internationally recognized accreditation body based in Europe — in 2017. With this recognition, IUS ELS became the first internationally accredited university English language foundation program in the Balkans by EAQUALS.
International University of Sarajevo, English Language School was inspected by EAQUALS in 2025 and met the high standards required for EAQUALS accreditation. The teaching, the course programmes, as well as the course organisation, the learning resources, testing and evaluation were all judged to be of high quality. It was found that the institution takes great care to protect the welfare of its clients and staff, and all publicity materials produced by the institution are accurate and truthful.

Founded in 1991, EAQUALS is the leading professional association that fosters "Excellence through Accreditation of Quality in Language Services" throughout the world. To support these aims, EAQUALS has established and published a demanding set of accreditation criteria, providing guarantees of high quality for language learners studying in EAQUALS-accredited centres.
EAQUALS advises the Council of Europe on language policy issues and is a member of the professional Network Forum at the European Centre for Modern Languages (ECML). The EAQUALS membership scheme brings together language teaching centres from over 30 countries and leading national and international organizations that actively support language education.
Following the 2025 EAQUALS inspection, the inspectors identified six specific categories where IUS English Language School demonstrated points of excellence — each independently observed and documented in the official report.
There is clear evidence of a well-established, collaborative, effective, and efficient ELS leadership team; from the Director to the instructors, there is a strong ethos of pride and teamwork to not only work together, but to seek continuous improvement. There is a clear strategic outlook and achievable vision, carried out by a team that has demonstrated the capacity to function with agility in the event of crisis.
Effective systems for quality assurance are clearly a strength of the ELS, particularly in listening to student and staff feedback. The Academic Support Office Coordinator clearly has a positive rapport with students.
There is evidence that formal as well as informal processes for consulting staff form a regular and integral part of the language centre's operation. The ELS has created an ethos where instructors feel a sense of value and autonomy.
Communication is excellent because of the transparency and breadth of accessible information provided to students in the recruitment materials, and the website.
There is an outstandingly good range of additional programmes designed to facilitate progression from the school into undergraduate programs.
ELS has very effective measures in place to manage its premises and resources in an environmentally-friendly manner such as extensive recycling and the use of ambient light to minimize energy consumption for lighting.
EAQUALS grants accreditation by independently inspecting twelve key areas of language teaching operations and quality. Of these twelve areas, IUS ELS achieved points of excellence in six — documented above.
