In accordance with Article 79 and 80 of the Law on Higher Education („Official Gazette of the Sarajevo Canton“ No. 33/2017), the Agreement on establishing international dual diploma programs, prior approval for realization of joint study programs between the International University of Sarajevo and the Istanbul Technical University (Economy, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electronics), No. 11-05-38-39981-1/18, IUS Senate decision No. IUS-SENAT-11-1401/2019 from May 31, 2019 and acting upon the prior approval from the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton regarding the enrolment of students in the academic year 2019/2020 No. 1-05-38-25076-1/19 dated June 24, 2019, International University of Sarajevo (IUS) publishes: | |||||||

For the student enrolment into the first year of the first study cycle of the international double degree study programs organized by Istanbul Technical University and faculties of the International University of Sarajevo in the academic year 2019/2020 | |||||||
in the academic year 2019/2020 | |||||||
International University of Sarajevo (“IUS”) and Istanbul Technical University ("ITU") are accepting applications and enrolling students into the first year of the first study cycle of joint double degree study programs organised by the International University of Sarajevo and Istanbul Technical University (referred to as "joint program") for the academic year 2019/2020. | |||||||

DOUBLE DEGREE PROGRAM | |||||||
The duration of studies in DOUBLE DEGREE programs is four (4) academic years and it is worth 240 ECTS. The language of instruction in double degree study programs is English. | |||||||
For double degree programs, valid study regulations of the institution where students are studying in that specific academic year as well as relevant regulations from the Dual Diploma Protocol (published on the official IUS website), and which have priority in relation to general acts/rules, are applied. | |||||||
The annual tuition fee for the first two study years (at IUS) is 4.000,00 Euro for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and 6.000,00 Euro for foreign students. The annual tuition fee for the third and fourth year (at ITU) is 1.750,00 Euro (for the academic year 2019/2020), and is subject to change owing to the changes in the exchange rate of the national currency in the Republic of Turkey. | |||||||
Candidates elligible to apply for enrolment are citizens of Bosnia and Herzgovina and foreign students who have a 4-year high-school degree acquired in Bosnia and Herzgovina or candidates who have acquired their degrees abroad, and whose degrees have been verified during the recognition or equivalency procedure as adequate for continuing their education at a higher education institution. | |||||||
During their studies, students, regardless of their scholarships, need to provide for their life expenses which can include transportation costs, accommodation, health insurance and services, purchase of books, visa/residence permit acquisition costs and other expenses. | |||||||
ENGLISH LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE | |||||||
Candidates enrolled in the joint program, along with the enrolment application can submit one of the following proofs of their English language proficiency: | |||||||
a. Certificate on achieving minimum score at one of the following international English language exams: | |||||||
-I B T Internet based TOEFL minimum 79 points; | |||||||
-IELTS - (Academic) minimum 6.0., (taken only from British Council test centers*; | |||||||
*Test scores obtained from any other test center (Private Language Courses or similar) will not be admissible as proof of language proficiency at the International University of Sarajevo. | |||||||
Upon receipt of the "ORIGINAL" score sheet from TOEFL/IELTS, student will submit the score sheet "IN PERSON" to the ELS Director for review and interview. Test-taker copy cannot be accepted as proof of language proficiency. The validity period for these scores is as stated on the Score Sheet. | |||||||
b. High school diploma or graduate or postgraduate university diploma granted upon completion of program realized in English language in the country where English is official language; | |||||||
d. Diploma from one of the following high schools: | |||||||
- AICE diploma: Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education; | |||||||
- IB diploma: International Baccalaureate; | |||||||
Candidates who hold an FCE certificate with a minimum grade B2 are exempt from ELS Placement exam and can directly sit for ELS Proficiency exam. | |||||||
Candidates that do not submit any proof of their English language proficiency will take the Proficiency Exam organized by IUS at the beginning of the academic year. | |||||||
In case a candidate cannot meet one of the criteria used for determining necessary English Language proficiency, the candidate is obliged to attend the English Language School at IUS, in accordance with study rules. The tuition fee for the English language school is defined by the price list of the Founder. | |||||||
DOCUMENTS FOR ENROLLMENT | |||||||
CITIZENS OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA | |||||||
In order to enrol in the first year of the first cycle at IUS, applicants who are citizens of B&H must submit the following documents: | |||||||
2. Original or certified copy of the high school diploma; | |||||||
3. Original or certified copies of the high school certificates for 1st through 4th grade; | |||||||
4. Official document for recognition of qualification for those who gained high school degree outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina or a document showing that recognition procedure has been initiated. In case candidates submit proof that the recognition procedure has been initiated, candidate would be enrolled conditionally and he/she would assume full responsibility for providing official document for recognition of his/her foreign qualification on time; | |||||||
5. Birth certificate; | |||||||
6. Certificate of Citizenship; | |||||||
7. Two photos size 6x4; | |||||||
8. Health certificate; | |||||||
9. CIPS certificate. | |||||||
FOREIGN STUDENTS | |||||||
In order to enrol in the first year of the first study cycle at IUS, foreign applicants* must submit the following documents: | |||||||
2. Original of the high school diploma; | |||||||
3. Official document for recognition of qualification for those who gained high school degree outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina or a document showing that recognition procedure has been initiated. In case candidates submit proof that the recognition procedure has been initiated, candidate would be enrolled conditionally and he/she would assume full responsibility for providing official document for recognition of his/her foreign qualification on time; | |||||||
4. Passport copy (with validity period of at least two years); | |||||||
5. Two photos size 6x4; | |||||||
6. Certificate of no criminal record (not older than six months and only for foreign students who are doing residency permit through IUS services; | |||||||
7. Health Certificate (for foreign students who are not doing residency permit through IUS services); | |||||||
*Candidates who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey apply for enrolment at ITU, and are obliged to meet the requirements stated in this announcement and to submit all necessary document to IUS. In addition to the documents mentioned above, ITU reserves the right to require additional documents in accordance with the regulations regarding the acquisition of student status in the Republic of Turkey. | |||||||

UNIVERSITY ENTRANCE EXAM AND APPLICATION RESULTS | |||||||
Candidates from Bosnia and Herzegovina who submit their applications for enrolment are obliged to take the university entrance exam. The condition for enrolment is a minimum high school grade average of 3,5 or equivalent. Candidates who achieve the best cumulative results (average high school grade and the total number of points at the university entrance exam), are elligible for enrolment. | |||||||
The university entrance exam will take place on September 11, 2019 at 10 am at the IUS Campus, Hrasnička cesta 15, Ilidža. In order to take the exam, candidates must have an identity document. | |||||||
The results of the university entrance exam will be published on September 13, 2019 on the IUS notice board (preliminary rank list). The preliminary rank list of all applicants and candidates admitted to faculties in the first enrollment period will be published by the IUS on the notice board and website after it is verified by the competent body no later than two days after the university entrance exam. | |||||||
Applicants have a right to submit an appeal on the preliminary rank list within three days from the day it was published. | |||||||
IUS will announce the final list of admitted students no later than five days after the preliminary rank list has been published. | |||||||
Students eligible for enrolment must submit original documents to the relevant organizational unit within seven days from the day the final rank list was published. In case, candidates fail to do so, their applications for a study program will be considered as withdrawn. | |||||||
In case that insufficient number of students are admitted in the first call for enrolment, IUS in cooperation with ITU may extend the deadline for submission of documents and publish the (amended) final list of the admitted students by January 20, 2020, the latest. In that case the start of the academic year is determined by the Academic Calendar. First time applicants as well as those who have not applied before, can submit their applications in the second call for enrolment. | |||||||
In case insufficient number of students apply for a specific study program, IUS reserves the right to not offer that study program in the academic year 2019/2020. | |||||||
