At the Crossroads of State Power, Media Ownership and Political Change: Arab and Egyptian Media in Focus
The IUS Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA) is pleased to invite you to a public lecture titled:
"At the Crossroads of State Power, Media Ownership, and Political Change: Arab and Egyptian Media in Focus."
Our distinguished guest speaker is Dr. Maher Hamoud from the University of Leuven, Belgium.
In his talk, Dr. Hamoud will delve into the key themes of his book, “The Political Economy of Egyptian Media: Business and Military Elite Power and Communication after 2011”, published by Bloomsbury. The book explores the complex interplay between media, power structures, and political change in Egypt - offering critical insights into the broader Arab media landscape.
Currently, Dr. Hamoud’s research extends into the intersection of development politics, value chains, industrialization, and international trade within and across the Global South.
We look forward to welcoming you to this thought-provoking and timely discussion.
