Dialogue with the students: Ms. Elizabeth Maruma Mrema
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is pleased to inform you that Ms. Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) and Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), will be on an official mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, in Sarajevo, from October 10 - 11, 2023. The purpose of the visit is to enhance collaboration in the field of ecology and environmental protection with the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, relevant environmental ministries, as well as with UN agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ms. Mrema will be accompanied by Mr. Carlos Barragan, Chief of Human Resources in the United Nations Environment Programme, who will present UNEP's organizational and professional capacities and opportunities for engaging young professionals in the field of environmental protection. Additionally, Ms. Mrema will accompany Mr. Arnold Kreilhuber (arnold.kreilhuber@un.org), Regional Director and Representative of the Regional Office for Europe, Mr. Rami Abdel Malik (rami.abdel-malik@un.org), Special Assistant to the Deputy Executive Director, and Mr. Alejandro Laguna Lopez (laguna@un.org), Communications Officer for Europe at UNEP.
During her official visit to Sarajevo, Ms. Mrema aims to engage in a dialogue with students from relevant departments of the University of Sarajevo and Banja Luka, as well as the International University of Sarajevo. The purpose is to present the unique role of UNEP within the UN system and its efforts in addressing challenges related to environmental protection, climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.
The event is taking place on October 11, 2023 at 11:00 in the Red Amphitheater (Building A).
The communication language at the event will be English.
