English Language Placement Test – Preliminary Test

For international and Turkish students.

Test date: September 14, 2026

Venue: Exam halls in Building B

Time: 10:00 a.m.

Test content: Grammar, vocabulary, reading, and writing skills.

This test is conducted to determine students' English language level. There is no pass or fail on this test. Based on the number of points achieved, students' level will be determined, and they will be placed into appropriate groups. A sample placement test is available at: https://els.ius.edu.ba/en/ius-language-proficiency

Test results will be sent on September 16 to the email address students provided during registration at IUS.

Students with no prior knowledge of English who will start from the A1 (beginner) level are not required to take the test. Students who do not wish to take the Placement Test may inform the ELS Directorate by September 15 that they wish to start their classes from the A1 level, by emailing els@ius.edu.ba.

All students taking the test must be present in the cafe area on the ground floor of Building B by 9:30 a.m. Students will be assigned to exam halls by the ELS staff.

Students must bring a valid photo ID (passport, ID card, driver's license, or IUS student card). Students who cannot present a valid ID will not be allowed to take the test.

Students should bring their own stationery (pencil, pen, eraser, etc.). Sharing of stationery during the test is not allowed, and the use of dictionaries is not permitted.

Mobile phones and smartwatches must be switched off during the test.
